Today we had our second ITAP lecture, again, I found it very inspiring.
for my first point I am going to write about "Developing Ideational Fluency" it sounded very scary but I soon learnt it was about how 'mind mapping' or 'brainstorming' can help organise your thought processes, this particularly stood out to me as I find this process so helpful and I use it in everything I do. I find it helps lead on to new ideas, explore realms I wouldn't of usually though of exploring and helps me to lead on and expand different ideas, this ensures my ideas are abstract and fresh and I'm trying things that aren't necessarily the norm for me which I feel is so important, especially in photography. I find they're useful to me especially when deciding on ideas for a photography shoot, or upcoming assignment, and because they help explore and go deeper into new routes, I can go back to them in the future if needed.
This is an example of one of my mind maps I created whilst trying to think of what to base our magazine on, as you can see there are branches coming off initial ideas (excuse the poor presentation):
For my second point I decided to look at "Managing a Creative Environment". the lecturer talked about how it is really important to ensure the place you study or create in is filled with things that inspire you and help you to open and relax your mind and come up with ideas, I agree with this and as I am a visual learner the place I work is covered with things I have collected over the years, including photo's from magazines and photographs my friends and tutors have taken. I also have a lot of work that I have produced to remind me what I have achieved.
